Life is busy. Basketball season is in full swing which means 2 games a week, typically 1 at home and one in the Valley. We were blessed to have Mike & Carol stop by for one of Morgan's games. The KU Cross Country teams hosts a 'fun run' for the Jr High school every fall. I am not sure of the distance, but it is close to, or just over, 1 mile. Lucas ran it this year.  We don't know what his time was, but I think he had a 'fun run'!

Yesterday was the 6th Annual Mazama Mud Run.  This is a fun race that Mazama High School hosts that draws schools from all over Southern Oregon and Northern CA.  There were 2 mud pits, a smaller one that people ran through twice and a much larger one that they ran through 3 times.  Morgan ran in the boys JV race, which was the 3rd race, so by the time he got there is was a thick, soupy pit.Before

Morgan is taking FACS (What we old people used to call Home Ec.) this semester and is quite the teachers pet!  I ran into his teacher the other day and she said that he is her prize pupil and quite the seamstress.  Maybe he has a destiny awaiting him on Project Runway?  He kind of reminds me of Jay! I have been layed out again with another rotten cold only this time had laryngitis for about 7 days and couldn't get any work done.  I am feeling better and finally caught up so I can do some blog posting! Dealing with Morgan's diabetes and basketball has always been a 'trial-by-fire' thing.  We do what we know how to do, (control carbs, give insulin and pray) and hope that everything works out

We made one last trip to the valley for Morgan's basketball tournament.  We have been to Eugene and Corvallis 4 times in the past 5 weeks and we are all ready to be home for a while.  While all of the tournaments have allowed our team to play other great teams, this tournament was by far the most difficult for them.  The team had made a name for themselves, and everyone was gunning for our guys.

For about 15 minutes, around 4pm we had sunshine and no snow.  I was able to get out and take a look. It has already been announced that school will be cancelled for tomorrow.  Many roads were closed around the area and many services in the city were closed due to the bad weather. Pat had to cancel most of his afternoon due to the snow storm so he was able to get home a little early and go for his usual 'run on the mountain'. I ventured out this am for my hair appt. It was fine when I left and 45 minutes later we had white out conditions. WOW. When we left for our fishing trip, we only had about 2 rows of wall. When we got home, the wall was finished, the debris hauled away and the grass removed. Since Wednesday they have trenched the yard, even digging a trench to the back for irrigation, added a new paver walk-way in the front of the house. It is amazing how fast summer has zipped by. School started yesterday for Lucas and today for Morgan. We left Chaoyang early in the morning for a 4 hour trip back to Shenyang city. While in Shenyang we stopped at the local Wal-mart and went shopping. Our goal was to spend $1000 USD in less than 90 minutes. That is about 7,500 Chinese Yuan! Liz divided the team up and gave us each a list of items to buy: toys, shoes, clothing, medicine, books, music. It was so much fun to shop for the kids.

Today was our last day in Chaoyang. It was a very emotional day, but you can read about that at Toni's blog. We were able to give some of the babies baths today, which was very nice as they were getting pretty smelly. Today we were able to spend the entire day at the orphange. We were able to get soooo much painting finished and it sure did brighten the place up. The interesting thing about the walls is that the bottom half of the wall is painted green and the top half is white....I thought it was painted but it is just dry wall spackle, so when we painted it was almost like painting 'fresco' I felt like
